Following the initiative of the Szecklers’ National Council (CNS), The Secklres Land obtained autonomy on Internet, by reserving the domain “.sic” in virtual space, according to Ziua daily.

According to the Company for Assigning Names and Numbers on Internet (ICANN), the “.sic” domain is the abbreviation of the word “Siculitas”, “Seckler” in Latin language.  CNS leader, Balazs Izsak stated that he received a written notification in this regard from ICANN, and the “.sic” code was assigned as domain’s name on superior level to the Secklers’ Land.

“This domain code on superior level “sic” in fact the abbreviation of the Latin word “siculitas”, which translated today means “Szeckler”. “Siculitas” meant once in medieval Latin, an autonomous community that had rights and freedoms to which we refer – meaning the traditions of Secklers’ freedom”, underlined Iszak.

He added that the assignment of sub-domains, respectively of the domains’ names, will start in the first quarter of 2010, so that the institutions, companies and private persons in the counties inhabited by Secklers, will be able to possess sites on Internet belonging to “.sic” domain.

CNS leaders consider the existence of the Szecklers’ Land on Internet as an autonomous entity as a significant event related to Szecklers’ autonomy aspiration.  CNS also printed a few thousands of car stickers with the sign SIC, and the sign is an international registered trade mark.
